it's all fAkE!!!

I do think that the King has some feeling that Hamlet is faking his maddness. First off, when he decides to have Hamlet set off with his friends to England (3.3 1-4) adn then after that, for the first time he thinks about the murder...(3.3 37-71).

Act III Scene III

1. Why are Rosencrantz and Guildenstern not on Hamlets side, after all, they are his friends?...
2. Why did the Kings prayer seem insincere to him?

Act III Scene I

Hamlets thoughts of suicide further prove his madness and insanity! He claims to love Ophelia and then never to have loved her! He comments on the wretchedness of humankind and tells Ophelia to go to a nunnery. He criticizes women for making men into monsters and for contributing to the worlds dishonesty by making their faces appear more beautiful than they really are.

did Hamlet love Ophelia?

We had no prior knowledge to Hamlets affection towards Ophelia until Laertes was leaving and gave Ophelia a "talk" on how she needs to stay away from Hamlet and then another time when she tells Polonius that Hamlet has interest in her. After Hamlet has gone mad, Polonius assumes that it is because of Ophelia. When he tries to prove to the king that the reason is because of his love to his daughter, he sets Ophelia up with Hamlet. When she encounters him, she wishes to give back his tokens. Hamlet denies giving her anything. He claims to have loved her once, and never to have loved her at all!!! That was the only time in the book so far that Hamlet himself actually says anything about his love to Ophelia.
